Finally, prayers of fans, friends and well-wishers seem to have been heard: Amitabh Bachchan is back home after 20 days of hospitalisation. The Big B had to be hospitalized and later operated upon for diverticulitis of small intestine (not to be confused with “lympho circoma of the intestine - the disease that an ailing Rajesh Khanna suffered from in the Amitabh-Rajesh all-time hit of early 70s, Anand.)
Amitabh, who was discharged on Saturday from Lilavati Hospital, came out in a white kurta-pyjama and waved to the fans waiting outside. Prior to this, he and wife Jaya Bachchan had accepted cheers and greetings of the fans from the balcony of the hospital. Big B, accompanied by son Abhishek, daughter Shweta, Amar Singh and the Sahara group chief Subrato Roy, drove straight to his old bungalow “Prateeksha”, to seek the blessings of his mother Teji Bachchan.
The discharge of Amitabh comes as a much-awaited sigh of relief to the entire entertainment industry, which has invested an estimated Rs. 200 crore on his films, advertisements and TV shows. He had taken ill after a function in the National Capital of Delhi and had to be rushed to the local Escorts Heart Institute. Later, he was flown to Mumbai.
Before resuming work full-steam, Amitabh may go through the guest-book and personally write back to his well-wishers for wishing him health and recovery. After all, he is known to keep his promises.
All said, Amitabh has time and again proved to be a born fighter, both on and off the screen. Indiadaily team wishes him a long life and still better times ahead!
