It was already there...just that it’s official now: India is the most preferred country to do business in. No matter how vigorously the USA and other developed countries continue with their “project India-bashing” on the business front, mainly for cornering the maximum volume of outsourced jobs, the Indian business model is a global hit.
That’s what a survey by Grant Thornton International (GTI), one of the world’s leading international organisations of independently-owned and managed accounting and consulting firms, has to say. Although GTI has been conducting this survey for the last four years, starting 2002, the Indian edge has been reflected for the first time.
GTI, which is located in over 110 countries, declared that the survey was conducted in 30 countries in the later-half of 2005, and those interviewed included owners of 7,000 medium-sized businesses. These 7,000 sample businessmen comprised both domestic and foreign entrepreneurs, who expressed an overwhelmingly high optimism/pessimism balance for India at +93. This balance was +88, +83 and +25 in 2004, 2003 and 2002, respectively.
Surprisingly, the business confidence in America stands at +32, which is even less than the half of what it was in 2004. The figure also places India much ahead of the G8 countries, boasting of “powerhouses”, like Japan and Germany and France. In this race, even China and Ireland have been outpaced.
And, all this is just about a worldwide acknowledgement of the quality output that India has been offering ever since the BPO boom!
